Safety planning for domestic violence victims is a personalized, proactive strategy designed to help individuals plan for their safety in situations where they may face immediate or future danger from an abuser.
This plan involves assessing the risks in the victim’s environment and developing specific steps to protect themselves and their loved ones.
Safety planning can cover a variety of scenarios, including during an abusive incident, when leaving an unsafe environment, or in preparation for future encounters with the abuser.
